- The Atlanta Beltline is a greenspace approach that integrates parks, transportation and sustainable growth. The beltline is planned along a 22-mile historic, but abandoned rail corridor that connects 45 neighborhoods and includes 33 miles of multi-modal trails.
- The first finished section was completed in 2012, and spurred $775 million of investment in businesses and residences near the trail within five years.
- Four segments of the beltline are currently open, and the project is to be completed in phases by 2030. Officials in Atlanta estimate that the $4.8 billion US dollars in investments to create the beltline could potentially result in $20 billion US dollars in economic development.
