Food distribution is the process by which a general population is supplied with food. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture 12.3% (15.6 million) of U.S. households in 2016 did not have access to fresh, affordable food at some point in the year. Innovations in the food distribution system are necessary to establish food security for a growing population.
